Hello. I’m Jason Krause, a visual designer from the land shaped like a mitten, Michigan.
It looks like you have come across my little space on the Internet. It is where I have a portfolio of my work, and also a place where I post other mindless drivel about things I find interesting in my life.
More than likely you are here because I replied to a job posting of yours or someone we both know sent you my way. Whether you have a job opening or looking to hire my freelance services, then get in touch. Also, be sure to have a look around while you are here.
Designing With Experience and Confidence
I am a visual designer with many years of professional digital and print design experience. With this comes a vast knowledge of user interfaces (UI), creating great user experiences (UX), and other skills needed while working on websites, mobile interfaces, and other digital projects. I can bring the right talent to complete any necessary project to help make your business look better and have a long-lasting impression.
Along with the web, I have worked on a variety of print projects over the years, including corporate identities, magazines (and other types of publications), catalogs, advertisements, flyers, mailers, and more. This also includes pre-press production and large-format printing.
Beyond Visual Design
In addition to being a visual designer, I am also an illustrator. I have been drawing interesting characters, robots, superheroes, aliens, and other creatures since I was a wee little lad, doing both traditional and digital illustration. I really enjoy comic book illustration and have worked on a number of projects in my life so far, including one that is coming out under Big Blue Comics!
Not Just All Design Business
When I’m not doing any design or illustration, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy partaking in my hobbies which include: riding my mountain bike on the trails around where I live (and beyond); discovering new music and concerts; collecting and consuming pop culture, and playing the occasional video game or board game.
Thanks for taking the time to drop by, I look forward to hearing from you!
Name a secret skill you have.
My sweet ninja skills. Wait, I just told you, now it is not a secret.
Besides art, what else do you enjoy?
Reading, watching, and creating science fiction. As much as I enjoy a good sci-fi “Star Wars” or “Alien” movie, I enjoy the non-fiction of our world and watching the SpaceX launches that are helping to push the development of our space programs. It feels as though we are entering the dawn of a new space age. When not doing any of that, I really like to escape the day-to-day grind and go ride my mountain bike.
What is your favorite YouTube video?
The Gorillaz music videos “Stylo” and “On Melancholy Hill”. Both are just great pieces of art, musically and visually that take you on an adventure. (There are many others for sure but I’m going with these for now.)
Gorillaz, “On Melancholy Hill”
Which superpower would you like to have and why?
Invulnerability. I think it would be really cool to not be harmed by anything physical.
If you didn’t have to work, what would you do?
I would probably still do some form of art or design. I enjoy creating things, always have. Also spend more time with family and friends, enjoying life riding my bike!
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?
Probably Batman or Iron Man. Their suits of armor, or gadgets, are high-tech wonders, and I am a tech junkie! Plus, who wouldn’t want to be Batman? (Runner-Up: The most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy, Boba Fett!)
What is your favorite thing about the Internet?
The vast wealth of knowledge at your fingertips. That and the ability to make new friends from around the world.
Thanks for stopping by!
